The countdown begins for the opening of the new Mitchell location! Our team is waiting patiently to be able to move into their brand-new building in the spring. Progress on the build is moving right along, and Plains Commerce Bank is proud to be able to expand our outreach in Mitchell and surrounding communities.

Market President Jill Luque shared with us some of the thoughts and plans she has for the new space and community room.

How long was our Mitchell branch located at 1130 S Burr?

We have been in our current location for over a decade!

How will this new building change how your team interacts with the community?

The new space will have a drive up which will aid business, ag, and other busy customers! We will also have an ATM- which will be nice for community member and visitors from out of town when they travel through Mitchell- especially being on the most traveled intersection in town. The architecture of the building and landscaping of the property is something that Mitchell will be proud of, and pleasant to see while waiting at the 4-way stoplight and while traveling through town. The community room will be a space where groups can gather either for meetings, trainings, or special events. The community room has a full view of Mitchell’s Burr Street with our sunny floor to ceiling windows that look out to the best view in town.

What sort of events and gatherings are you hoping to see in the community room?

We hope that clubs, organizations, and groups use the space as they better serve Mitchell and surrounding communities. Being in the heart of Mitchell, our building is easily accessible for guests who are driving in from all parts of town. We have ample parking and all the amenities of a meeting room. And I wouldn’t be shy to say I hope there bridal and baby showers, and birthday and graduation parties too in our space!

What is your favorite aspect of the new building?

I’m very pleased that we designed the building and property with the customer in mind. There are four entry/exit points with plenty of parking, including street side parking for work-trucks and trailers. I love that immediately upon entrance, customers will see the traditional teller line where our bankers will be stationed to serve. The lobby is bright and inviting with atrium lighting, a fireplace, comfortable seating and a coffee bar. Our drive up has a window with 2 teller stations designed to have face-to-face service with our bankers assisting on the other side of the glass. I’m also proud to say that offices are private and professional. The interior colors and finishes were designed to bring warmth and light, which matches the energy of our staff and customers.

The team in Mitchell is made up of hardworking individuals, including personal bankers, ag and commercial bankers, and a mortgage banker. Each person is an active member of the community, and most are even native to South Dakota.

For Plains Commerce Bank, being a community bank is a crucial part of our identity. Having employees who are from small towns, are living and contributing to Mitchell and surrounding communities by being involved in clubs and organizations, and who have a desire to create personal connections with customers is essential. We believe that this space will further our commitment to being a truly community-focused bank, and we hope that Mitchell will enjoy the building as much as our team!
